The Hangover Part II
Jan 16th
A lightscribe cover label for the DVD movie The Hangover 2.
I loved the first one like so many people. And while this one was equally as funny, the story and progress was a lot less shocking, so they threw in dongs, dongs, and even more dongs. There are a few crazy scenes here, mainly the Shiitake Mushroom scene that make me want to hate this movie, but honestly even as awkward and nasty it got, it was still funny..

Real Steel

A lightscribe cover label for the DVD movie Reel Steal.
Initial I thought this was Rockem Sockem Robot: The Movie, but I guess it isn’t. The concept seems far fetched to me, a new sport of boxing robots. Don’t get me wrong I like violence, and I am even a huge UFC fan, but I think what makes fighting sports exciting is that they are humans, the fighters do more than just fight, its about technique, strategy, endurance, and physical prowness. The idea of robots fighting isn’t that exciting. I however do support robot arenas, where they have saws and hammers and battle each other, that’s just awesome. .

Hanna

A lightscribe cover label for the DVD movie Hanna.
Prior to looking up info I had no idea what this movie was about. It seems to be about a teenage assassin trained by her father. The photos I found of this movie alone make it look like it has a neat art direction, and might be worth checking out.

Fright Night

A lightscribe cover label for the DVD movie Fright Night.
Initial previews for this got me excited. I am actually a fan of Anton Yelchin after watching alpha dog, and even more so after watching Star Trek, even a lot more when I found out he will play the title character in the upcoming Odd Thomas (my favorite book). Oh yeah, this movie seems to be about Vampires and the main character trying to kill the vampire and restore order to his neighborhood. Previews made it look like a throwback to The Lost Boys..

Cowboys and Aliens

A lightscribe cover label for the DVD movie Cowboys and Aliens.
When the previews first came out for the movie, I felt that it was trying to be marketed towards me, but it just wasn’t working. I learned that I had co-workers that were eagerly awaiting this movie, but I just couldn’t feel the same way. I still haven’t checked it out, but from what I gather, if I was 12 years old I would love it, but other than it it would just be “Meh"..

When I first saw trailers for this I fell in love with the concept. I think the “found footage” genre can be really fun and interesting when done right. I also love the idea of space exploration and our Moon. But it seemed suddenly that the trailers disappeared. I guess it stuck around and got released, but I honestly have no recollection of that happening. I would like to check this out sometime..

I’m not going to lie, I have no plans to watch this. I don’t mind live action remakes if they are in spirit of the originals, but when you take a TV shows that takes place in a mushroom bed in a forest, and take it to New York City, that just bothers. Also I hear it is terrible.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Jan 10th
A lightscribe cover label for the DVD movie Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes.
This just might be my favorite movie of 2011. I have always liked the planet of apes franchise, and even loved the Tim Burtom remake. This movie took a que from Star Trek, and starts in an alternate universe that also doubles as a reboot, and like star trek in doing so, follows cannon down to the T to make it even more exciting. Once again I should point out that the trailers focus on the latter part of the movie, even though this was a great Drama flick and not just adventure/action. I can’t wait for the sequel. #ApesWillRise

Limitless

A lightscribe cover label for the DVD movie Limitless.
First let me say that the trailer for this focuses on the last 10 minutes or so. With that out of the way, this was actually a good movie with a good story. The art direction became a little to trippy for me at times, but that added to the story telling. Over all this is Rhino Recommended.

I have only watched part of the first one, and it wasn’t quite my thing. I am told if I were to sit down and watch it, its ok. I think I may be getting tired of the whole talking 3D animals thing.

This seems to be 2011’s animal inspiration movie based on a semo-true story, and I thought I heard something about somehow being related to the military? I guess the kids love this movie, but I am unsure if I would like this..

The Change Up

A lightscribe cover label for the DVD movie The Change Up.
What do we have hear? A movie where two people aren’t quite happy in their lives, end up switching bodies, and probably at the end learn some important life lesson? I am sure I have seen this before, oh, wait, it is 2 dudes this time, who peed in a magical fountain, oh and its Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman, those guys are funny right, this must be gold? I don’t know, I didn’t waitch it, but this looks like the type of movie I might check out if someone else wants to see it. it doesn’t sound too original.

I think I might be in love with JJ Abrams. This movie is a lot like ET meets The Goonies, meets Cloverfield. It all works good together. The kids in this movie aren’t your Disney Chanel annoying little shit heads, these are real characters who are very likable in their own way.

I like these movies a lot, but for some reason I never got around to watching this one. Hopefully I will like it, which it has to be better than the 3rd one right? Also, Orlando Blume is gone, so it has that working for it.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
Nov 13th
A lightscribe cover label for the DVD movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
So, this is the end of the Harry Potter franchise. I must say I did like it, and if you combine part 1 and this together, this is a great movie. I was hoping for a bit more though, as I had already figured out the big twist, and had assumed it would end the way it did. I kind of hope that the franchise will continue on with the character introduced in the last 5 minutes, I mean I would love more movies set in this universe.

Green Lantern

I am majorly disapointed with this movie. Most of the outer space stuff was really awesome, but too much of the movie took place on earth, and all of the earth stuff was boring. A major problem was Ryan Renolds. It wasn’t his fault, but you could tell the directors and whoever else had creative control with this movie thought that if they let Ryan Reynolds be himself, that people would love it. Not true though, he was plain generic Ryan, nothing special at all. If they make a sequel, I hope that they learn from their mistakes.

Crazy Stupid Love

A lightscribe cover label for the DVD movie MOVIENAMEREPLACE.
Based on the previews I wasn’t to sure if I would like this. I have recently heard some good things about it, mainly that Steve Carell is actually great in this. I don’t know too much about it besides he is having problems in his marriage, and asks a naked Ryan Gosling for help. Also Emma Stone is in it, which is a win in my book.

This was was pretty badass. I had the unfortunate luck of having to see this in 3D, as when I watched it only one screen was showing it. The 3D was terrible and took away from my experiance If it wasn’t for that, this may have been my favorite movie of the year.

I gotta say, I wasn’t too sure if I was going to like this movie. I had previously watched both XMen first class and Thor, and didn’t believe that Marvel could have 3 good movies in a single year. Wow, I was wrong. This movie was pretty damn amazing. I am definitively looking forward to The Avengers.

Bridesmaids
Nov 13th
A lightscribe cover label for the DVD movie Bridemaids.
I’ve heard this movie described in a couple of way. One, a movie like 40 year old virgin or Knocked up, but more for women. Another I heard was a female version of The Hangover. After watching this I would say it was somewhere in the middle, but never coming close to The Hangover. I kept hearing how funny it was, and at times it really was, but this really isn’t a comedy, it is a drama that at times is comedic. It fits in well with Knocked up, if you re watch that it might be more dramatic than you remember. All in all, this was a good film. One last thought, for a movie about ‘bridesmaids’, it really focuses on the maid of honor, almost to the point where I wanted to see more of the other women.

Apart from having the same producer as Shaun Of The Dead, and that Aliens are attacking the block, I don’t know too much about this movie. I have heard it mentioned before, and seen a post, but never paid too much attention to it. But, looking for images to make this cover, I am convinced that I need to see this movie.

I don’t know about a movie that has a pot reference in its title. While all the actors involves seem awesome together, I just don’t know if I can handle a stoner comedy just for the sake of being a stoner comedy. I liked Pineapple Express, the first two times, but I can’t stand it now.
